Our feet and toes are essential for moving, but we often don’t notice them until something hurts.

Here’s a few simple movements that can give your feet a much needed stretch:

 

Kneel down and tuck your toes under, then slowly sit back on your heels. This can be quite intense, so try to stay for a few breaths. If it’s painful, come out of the posture.

Just like your ankles, moving your toes and feet in different directions is good – especially without shoes which often limit your movement. Try flexing your ankle and toes back towards:

and lastly, point your ankle away but flex your toes up (sometimes called ‘flointing’ or barbie feet because your feet look the way that the barbie doll feet are permanently fixed!):
