This is one of my favourite ways to relieve tension in the neck, shoulders and hands. It comes from Yoga Synergy based in Sydney, Australia.

The purpose of the gentle moving sequence is to tension and stretch the fascial tissue from your neck down through your arms in to your hands. This creates a different feeling than a normal muscle stretch. It may feel more like a dull ache or non-specific ‘pull’ through your arms. Depending on how tight you are, where and how you feel this will be different.

You need to move slowly and intentionally to actual feel the stretch. Take time, to pause and think about the position of your fingers and hands. Small changes here can greatly increase or reduce the stretch.

I go through the movement twice. In the second round, I explain the tip of pulling the armpits towards your hips to help intensify the stretch.

Remember to be gentle here and look after your hands and wrists.
